We should revel in the playfulness of Charlotte Olympia’s Pandora’s clutch

Charlotte Olympia Dellal, the founder of Charlotte Olympia, says her creativity is, “inspired by a bygone era of old Hollywood glamour”.  We believe this shines through in the designs and the choice of fabrics and materials used.

The Pandora clutch is the brand’s iconic perspex bag.  Changed-up each season with on-trend colours and finishes, this signature design stays true to the brands feminine and fun persona.  We love the pink and yellow Pandora with its bright colours and quirky styling even down to its spider clasp. We also have Pandoras in navy with gold detailing and burnt orange.  They manage to be both playful effortlessly chic and could brighten up any outfit in seconds.

The Pandora clutch should in no way be confused with Pandora’s box, which is said to contain all the evils of the world and once opened it can never be closed.  However once one is aware of the Pandora clutch you can never un-see its beauty.

Launched in 2008 Charlotte Olympia is a London based luxury shoe and accessories brand with an ever-growing international presence.  Its shoe icons including the Dolly with its signature ‘island’ platform and distinctive Kitty flats.

How did Orla Kiely become “The Queen of Prints”?

Described by The Guardian as “the Queen of Prints”, Orla Kiely is now synonymous with bold multi-coloured designs.  Her ‘stem’ prints in particular are instantly recognisable and highly covetable.

Kiely began her career designing hats, before moving on to handbags, homeware and clothing.  Talking to the New York Times in 2009 she said credits her father for noticing that, “everyone was carrying a handbag, but no one was wearing a hat” during her first London Fashion Week.  In the late 1990s, she had the idea to laminate cloth for handbags, “At the time, no one was doing anything like it. Laminated fabric, in those days, meant tablecloths”.  She made her idea a reality and the rest, as they say, is history.

She designed for other brands such as Esprit and Habitat before launching her label in London in 1997.  Her brand has gone from strength to strength and is known worldwide.

What do you think about Orla Kiely’s designs?  We’d love to hear your thoughts.

We tell you about the accessory of choice for a bone fide princess

Designed by Robert Dumus, the Hermès Kelly bag has been around since the 1930s.

The bag’s aesthetic was very different to the decorative styles that were in fashion at the time.

It took its moniker from Grace Kelly after the Princess of Monaco reportedly ordered six of the bags in different colours in 1956.  Photographs of the Princess with her various bags and other celebrity fans soon made the design an icon.

What’s so special about a Jimmy Choo clutch bag?

Jimmy Choo accessorised red carpet dressing before it became “a thing” and remains a favourite with celebrities and the style savvy.

Those of us who watched Sex and The City will fondly remember Carrie’s despair as she, “lost her Choo” whilst running for the Staten Island Ferry.  Jimmy Choo was a brand to covet and a pair of Jimmy Choos or one of its bags was an aspiration.

We love Jimmy Choo.  Why not check out the Jimmy Choo Tube Clutch in leopard print on our site?

We’d love to hear what you think about Jimmy Choo’s accessories in the comments below.

Why we love Louis Vuitton’s signature check canvas print

Louis Vuitton’s Damier print is universally recognisable whilst being subtler than its eponymous LV initials print.

Created in 1888, the Damier brown check canvas pattern, originally bore a logo that read “marque L. Vuitton déposée”, which translated as “L. Vuitton registered trademark”.

Just over a century later, in 1998, the pattern was reintroduced as the Damier Ebène, and it has proven to be a huge success.  A number of Damier canvases have been introduced since then: Damier Azur (beige and blue), Damier Graphite (black and grey for the 120th anniversary of the canvas in 2008) and the embossed leather of Damier Infini (soft calf leather textured in the style of Damier check).

We’re fortunate to have a classic Damier Ebène Neverfull tote bag for rent on our site.  Why not check it out?

We give you our view of Victoria Beckham’s bags

Victoria Beckham launched her fashion label in September 2008.  It quickly grew and is now a fixture at New York Fashion Week.  The brand was named Designer Brand of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in 2011.

Initially the label was known for its dresses and has expanded to add separates, eyewear, and accessories including handbags and shoes.  We believe the brand’s bags take modern luxury and clean lines to a new level.  They are made from beautiful materials and provide quiet sophistication to any outfit.

We’re fortunate to have two Victoria Beckham bags available on our site – the small zip pouch with detachable strap in blush pink and large zip pouch in blue/grey leather zip pouch delicate cut-out detail on the front.

We’d love to know what you think about Victoria Beckham bags in the comments below.
