Gucci is one of the most recognisable luxury brands in the world. Its classic ‘GG’ monogram and bamboo elements are synonymous with Italian style. Its heritage has given us a number of new bag icons including the Bamboo Classic Top Handle and Jackie – and possibly a new one – the Soho Disco Bag.
The Constance bag launched in the 1950s was renamed Jackie in the 1960s to reflect its popularity with Jackie Onassis who was repeatedly photographed carrying it. A new deconstructed version of the Jackie bag was introduced in 2009.
The Bamboo Classic Top Handle bag was created in 1947. Interestingly, the bamboo handle was bag was not purely a design feature as it was developed to work around war-time shortages. The bag was popular with Liz Taylor amongst others in the 1950s and 1960s and New Bamboo Classic Top Handle bag continues to be a favourite with celebrities and fashionistas.
Not to be outdone Gucci’s Soho Disco bag is a relatively new arrival but is fast becoming a new classic. It is already a cult favourite thanks to bloggers and fashion editors alike. Why not visit our previous post to find out more?
