I first became aware of Anya Hindmarch in 2001 when I noticed countless well-healed fashionable women walking around London carrying bags showing printed images of their children, grandchildren and pets amongst other things. I later learned this was the “Be A Bag” line, which personalised canvas bags with a customer’s photograph, and has benefitted a number of charities making them both ethical and stylish.

The brand became a phenomenon in 2007 when it launched a limited-edition canvas tote bag stating, “I’m Not A Plastic Bag”, designed reduce plastic bag use.  The bags were sold for £5 in Sainsbury’s stores throughout the UK and became a sell-out around the world often changing hands for large sums on internet auction sites.

Anya Hindmarch founded her accessories business in 1987 which has subsequently grown into a multi-award winning global brand.  It combines beautiful quality, coveted luxury and bespoke personalised pieces with quirky British tongue-in-chic styling.
